Important Gas Dock Safety Tips

Retired Osage Beach Fire Chief Jeff Dorhauer joins Float Your Boats Deborah Wolfe on the gas dock at Surdyke Port 20 to discuss fueling safety tips every boater should follow 100%.

Don't have time to watch the video? Here's a short list of gas dock safety tips.

Always clear the boat and gas dock of anyone not involved in fueling and don't climb back aboard until the blower runs for several minutes.

Fuel expands as temperatures rise, so only fill the tank to about 90% capacity.

Keep electronic hatches closed until blower runs for several minutes. Then open compartments to circulate air.
